Meet Vergis; she's impressive

I had never met Sydney Vergis before. I had not heard her speak before nor did I know what her views might be. But there I was, watching the candidate forum on TV last Wednesday night, and I must say I was impressed.

I moved to Davis in 1976 to attend UC Davis and have been here since. I have been a Davis resident for 32 years. My wife and I have raised our two daughters here in Davis. I have operated a small business in Davis for 32 years. This is the first time I have written an endorsement letter supporting a candidate for City Council. What a breath of fresh air!

Even though I may not agree with all the views that Sydney expressed during this candidate forum, she was balanced, articulate, well-spoken and her views were thought-out. I was so impressed that I made a point of going to the Farmers' Market to personally meet and speak to her this past Saturday morning. I was not disappointed. If elected, she will represent a broad spectrum of Davis, as several candidates very clearly will.

As a 32-year resident of Davis, I have seen it all. I urge all voters to take the time to get to know Sydney and to see first-hand for yourselves how a young, energetic and open- minded member of the Davis City Council will benefit all of the people of Davis. We need not re-elect the bitter and self-serving; we can move forward with open-minded, polite and respectful elected officials to represent Davis. So I urge you to cast your vote for Sydney Vergis.

Don Saylor and Stephen Souza are proven and quality elected representatives doing a great job for all the citizens of Davis. By electing Don, Stephen and Sydney, we will, for the first time in a long time, have a quality City Council that will no longer be dysfunctional but will provide the leadership that will lead Davis in the right direction.
